Reuben Mahlaba Tshabalala was an individual who was born in the dusty streets of Qwaqwa in the Free State. Reuben started attending creche at Mabolela Creche, then moved to Sephokong Intermediate School until 2007. He then moved to The Beacon Secondary School to do Grade 8 in 2008 until he finished his matric in 2012.
Upon his secondary schooling journey Reuben was chosen to attend a program of Enke: Make Your Mark. In addition to that, in 2012 he was already a part of the Kutlwanong Centre for Maths, Science and Technology. During the year, he was chosen to represent the Qwaqwa branch of Kutlwanong, Centre for Maths, Science and Technology for the weekend to remember in Cape Town. Reuben completed his matric with bachelor pass obtaining distinction in five of his subjects, Life Orientation, Sesotho HL, Computer Application Technology, Physical Sciences and Mathematics. He also was the first generation in his school to have written Mathematics Paper 3. He was amongst the Free State top 100 for the matric class of 2012.
In 2013 he went on to study at the University of Cape Town where he obtained his degree in Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance in 2016, then his Bachelor of Commerce honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management in 2017 and lastly Master of Commerce in Risk Management of Financial Markets- AIFMRM (African Institute of Financial Market and Risk Management). During his years in university Reuben worked as a private tutor where tutored high school mathematics and physical sciences. After his postgraduate, he worked at Momentum Metropolitan Holdings Limited as a Risk Analyst from 2019 to 2022. In 2022 he then moved to Capitec Bank where he worked as Operational Risk Analyst.
